We make "Break Time" enjoyable!
John Hannay, owner of J The V Vending knows a lot about customers' snack habits. It's knowledge he started accumulating as a teenager in the 1970s, when he spent his summers helping his father with his own business, Southern Vending. After graduating from high school in 1978, John went to work full time for his father's company. Then, in 2000, his father sold the company. That's how his company, J the V Vending, got started.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch was his first account. John had handled the newspaper's account with Southern Vending for seven or eight years, and based on its experience with him, the company agreed to be his first account with J the V Vending. He started there with 20 or 30 vending machines.
It was a struggle initially, but John kept reminding himself, "Keep on working and doing a good job, and you'll grow." His hard work paid off when word of his dedication reached a company that sells vending equipment and finds locations for vending companies. John secured some nice accounts in Richmond including The Jefferson Hotel and the Virginia Employment Commission.
Continuing a family tradition, his son Jimmy and daughter Laura both work for the company. J The V Vending has continued to grow into one of the largest independent vending companies in the Richmond, VA area. The vending industry continues to evolve, but one thing hasn't changed and that's Johns commentment to hard work and dedication to his customers.
